Drive Momentum with SGMP

Fall Chapter Recruiting Campaign
Recruiting new government professionals to join SGMP can help our chapters and our Society as a whole. We invite chapters and members to spread the word about how membership in SGMP can help government meeting professionals connect with and learn from their peers, gain valuable expertise about the government meetings field, earn their test-based CGMP certification, and have access to content and resources to stay abreast of the latest issues.

Building on the success of last year's fall chapter recruiting campaign, we have a new theme this year: “Drive Momentum with SGMP.” Chapters that recruit new members and/or submit their best retention idea by December 30, 2018, will be in the running for one of four prizes.

Prizes are available for the top three chapters with the highest net percentage membership gain by December 30, 2018. They include a NEC registration for a planner ($405 value), $300 stipend for chapter programming, and $150 stipend for chapter programming. New this year, a “Best Membership Retention Initiative” Award will be offered to one chapter which will receive $500 for chapter programming. Resources and more information is available to chapter leaders to amplify their recruiting efforts.

 Drive Momentum with Your CGMP
To be successful in government meetings, a government meetings professional needs specialized skills and knowledge about   the nuances and intricacies of working with government agencies. But specialized knowledge is not easy to come by and many people are thrust into on-the-job training navigating learning about regulations that govern contracts, spending, ethical guidelines, and more. This is why SGMP offers the Certified Government Meeting Professional (CGMP) certification to its members. SGMP members report that an increased number of employers are seeking candidates who have earned their CGMP.  Members also report new work opportunities, promotions, pay raises and bonuses as a result of obtaining their CGMP.To earn a CGMP, professionals with at least one year of experience sign up for a three-day class and written examination.
