SGMP Supports National Charity, Alternatives For Girls

Each year, SGMP selects a charity to support in the city hosting the National Education Conference (NEC).  In advance of the conference, information will be shared about the mission of the charity and how those attending can get involved.  It is often a fantastic way to do a good deed and meet someone new with a common interest.

SGMP has selected Detroit nonprofit Alternatives For Girls as its 2019 National Education Conference Charity. Founded in 1987, Alternatives for Girls helps homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy and exploitation. AFG provides a range of essential services to girls and young women including safe shelter, street outreach and educational support, vocational guidance, mentoring, prevention activities and counseling.

They give each girl and young woman access to support, resources and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong and to make positive choices in their lives.

NEC Attendees are encouraged to donate online or purchase items from the agency's wishlist.
