Alan Brook is an emergency management professional, EMS educator, and public safety leader with more than two decades of experience serving communities through emergency medical services, disaster preparedness, healthcare education, and emergency management. Throughout his career, he has worked across the operational, educational, and administrative aspects of public safety, bringing a unique perspective that bridges frontline response with organizational leadership.

Alan currently serves in local government emergency management, where he is responsible for planning, preparedness, training, exercises, and coordination efforts that strengthen community resilience and enhance disaster response capabilities. His work includes the development and implementation of emergency operations plans, continuity programs, sheltering initiatives, healthcare preparedness projects, and large-scale training and exercise programs involving public, private, and nonprofit partners.

Prior to his emergency management role, Alan served as Director of Emergency Medical Science Programs at Cape Fear Community College, where he led accredited EMS education programs, managed faculty and budgets, oversaw program compliance and accreditation activities, and helped shape the development of future EMS professionals. Under his leadership, the program expanded educational opportunities, strengthened community partnerships, and supported workforce development efforts throughout the region.

In addition to his leadership experience, Alan remains actively involved in EMS and public safety training. He is a certified instructor and presenter who has delivered educational programs on topics including disaster response, emergency preparedness, responder safety, leadership, healthcare coalitions, incident management, and violence prevention. As a GST Level II Instructor, he has a particular interest in improving responder safety through realistic self-defense and violence mitigation training for EMS providers and healthcare personnel.

Alan is passionate about advancing the EMS profession through education, leadership development, and practical solutions that improve both provider safety and patient care. His presentations are known for combining real-world experience, evidence-based practices, and actionable takeaways that attendees can immediately apply within their organizations and communities.
