Membership Renewal

Renewal Cycles

Our 12-month membership cycles are based on an anniversary month schedule. With no renewal payment, a membership expires at the end of the same month in which the member joined. Membership renewal reminders are sent 30 days before a membership’s expiration date, and reminders are sent through the end of the grace period.

Grace Period

We grant all members a 60-day renewal grace period following the expiration of their membership. If the membership is not renewed by the end of that grace period, the membership is dropped from our roster and this change of membership status reported to the local chapter. It is particularly important that supplier members currently part of a chapter participating in the planner match program renew their membership prior to being dropped. Once a supplier member is dropped from the roster, they must rejoin along with a planner match.

Payment Options

In an effort to allow our members to proactively renew their memberships, we have provided an online payment portal, where we accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express for online payments.

Members may also create an invoice by logging into their member profile, going through the membership renewal steps and selecting “register and bill me” upon completion of the renewal process.  Invoices can be paid via check mailed to National Headquarters, or through the online payment portal. A member can view their invoices by logging into their account and selecting “My Invoices” under “Account Details".

Checks must be made out to “Society of Government Meeting Professionals” or “SGMP” and mailed to SGMP headquarters (5746 Union Mill Road, Suite 148, Clifton, VA 20124). If a check is written incorrectly, it will be mailed back to the address on the check. If you need a W-9 for your payment, please click here.

Once your membership is renewed, you will receive an automated confirmation of payment receipt. If you are unsure of your renewal status, have difficulty accessing your record, or feel there is an error in your payment status, please email us at [email protected].

Transferred Membership

If the representative for your membership has changed, please review the Membership Ownership page for the most current information on transferring memberships.

Dropped Memberships

Planner memberships that drop from our roster are not eligible to be a match for supplier applicants until their membership has lapsed for more than a 12-month period. As a planner, you may rejoin at any time by submitting your completed application.

With any lapse of membership the eligibility for holding office resets. For more details on eligibility for holding office, please contact us at [email protected].
