We look forward to working with you! This committee includes membership recruitment, membership retention, succession planning, and hospitality. Membership Recruitment: Solicits new members while maintaining a 50/50 ratio between planner & suppliers. Membership Retention & Succession Planning: Help members understand the ROI of the society and prepare them to become future leaders of the chapter. Hospitality: Manages the registration at the monthly meeting. This is the best way to get to know the members and guests. It is one of the best ways to become engaged in the chapter. This committee is responsible for developing honors and awards for active and contributing chapter members. This Committee develops continuing education & professional development opportunities for chapter members. Communication oversees all communication for the chapter. This includes the monthly meeting notices, social media and website. Website: Maintains and updates the Chapter’s website which includes the monthly meeting notices and emails to membership. Our JourneyIn 2024 the Rocket City Alabama Chapter received the following awards at the National Education Conference. Legacy Award recognition presented to Pat Burch, GMS, Emerging Leader recognition presented to Van Strickland, Jennifer Middleton was inducted to the Gilmer Institute of Trustees, Received 1st Place in Communications - Membership Emails, Received Programming Recognition and Received Honors in the Chapter Operations Award.
In 2023 the Rocket City Alabama Chapter received the following awards at the National Education Conference. Supplier of the year presented to Erica Bradford, CGMP, GMS, Young Professional recognition presented to Jackie Ramos, CGMP, GMS, Emerging Leader recognition presented to Johnita Romine and Stephanie Moore-Doman, Received the Membership Award for the Highest Membership Growth, Received 1st Place for Programming and Received Honors in the Chapter Operations Award. In 2022 Rocket City Alabama began a strategic plan to rebuild and revitalize the chapter after suffering a downturn during the COVID pandemic. So, needless to say, winning the MEMBERSHIP AWARD for Highest Percentage Growth at the SGMP NEC in Pittsburgh, PA in June was amazing!!! Accepting the award presented by Michelle Milligan were the following members: Nikki Payne, Marie Arighi, Erica Bradford & John Ocampo
In September of 2021 the Rocket Alabama Chapter was the host for the SGMP NEC 40th Anniversary Celebration!!! Suppliers and Planners from all over the country traveled to Huntsville and experienced why we are called the "The Rocket City". #sgmpignite #sgmp40th
On April 23, 2019, the Rocket City Alabama Chapter celebrated 10 years. Members from throughout the years were invited to attend and to bring an item to place in the time capsule to be opened in 2029. The SGMP National Board attended via video to congratulate the chapter. In November 2014 the Rocket City Alabama chapter participated in the Veterans Day parade in honor of our members that served in the armed forces. In April 2013 the Rocket City Alabama Chapter celebrated five years at the Westin Huntsville with National President, Rob Coffman, in attendance. Marie Arighi, Director of Sales & Event Services, Von Braun Center, saw a need for a chapter in Huntsville and with her ingenuity and infectious drive, brought together planners and suppliers to jumpstart this chapter. On April 27th, 2009 the chapter was officially chartered the Rocket City-Alabama Chapter. |
