It’s been a long hot summer, but thank goodness we are headed into the fall. This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the autumn colors and crisp air. Marie Arighi has done an excellent job setting up our educational programs. There were several opportunities for you to earn certifications. I encourage everyone to become a Government Meeting Specialist. If you’re already attending the meetings, you’ve got a head start. Some of you may consider becoming a Certified Government Meeting Professional. This is a nationally recognized credential and can be earned through a variety of means. Before we know it the Holiday Season will be here as our Silent Auction. Maybe you could donate an overnight stay, a dinner for two, or a night out on the town. Dianna Baccus will be providing additional information during the October and November meetings. I can’t wait for this year’s National Education Conference in St. Louis! If you have never attended NEC, I would highly suggest you look into it. I have been to many professional development conferences during my career and NEC has by far been one of the best. Consider applying for the SGMP scholarship and/or our local chapter scholarship which is funded by the Silent Auction. I look forward to seeing everyone soon and wish you all the best in the coming months.

Community ServiceIn August chapter members volunteered their time working the registration booths at this year's Space & Missile Defense Symposium. Every year RCAC enjoys the time spent volunteering at this event, getting to meet new people and give back to the community.
MembershipThe Rocket City Chapter of SGMP will primarily focus on reclamation to increase membership for the months of September, October, and November. I have sent emails to past members asking them to come to our next meeting and inviting them to rejoin the Rocket City Chapter. I will send follow-up emails up until the December meeting - which is our Holiday Celebration meeting and traditionally our biggest membership drive meeting.
For the month of December, in addition to our reclamation efforts, each current member of the Rocket City Chapter will be asked to bring at least two guests and a special incentive will be given to the member who has the most guests to join by the February 2025 meeting.
